Mr. Lin Huanjie was born in March 1963 in Shantou, China. He belongs to Han ethnic group. He has a PhD in business administration. He is president of the Institute for Theme Park Studies in China, a visiting professor in the Overseas Education College and director of the Theme Park Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University. He is also a part-time professor and doctoral supervisor in the Politic Science and International Relationship College of Beijing Normal University. Besides, he is a doctoral supervisor in the Business School of University of Otago in New Zealand and the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology in the Philippines and a part-time professor in the latter university. He acts as the chairman of the Shanghai Yi Xiang Tourism Culture Development Co., Ltd. He is a practitioner and theorist on theme parks. He has presided over and participated in planning, programming, designing, project construction management and operation management of several large-scale theme parks and tourist attraction projects in mainland China. He has investigated and experienced more than 200 Chinese theme parks, each Disneyland Park in all 6 cities in the world, the Universal Studios in the United States, Japan and Singapore, the Efteling Park in the Netherland, the Europa Park in Rust, Germany, the Puy Du Fou in Nantes, France and other main theme parks. He has also investigated the Six Flags Great Adventure and Lego Theme Parks, etc. He often communicates with domestic and international theme park managers, design institutions and universities. He conducts a lot of researches on ways to transform cultural IP into theme park entertainment mode and proposes that China should build theme parks with Chinese cultural elements.
Main theories and research areas: Tourism real estate, theme parks and regional economies, theme park design and construction, etc; articles and monographs published relevant to those theories and areas.
His main research achievements: Chinese Theme Parks and Regional Economies (Chinese Regional and Urban Development Series), which is one of national key books during the twelfth five-year plan and published by Economic Science Press in May, 2013. The book has been displayed on the London International Book Fair in April, 2017, the New York Book Expo America in June, 2017 and collected by the Library of Columbia University as one of their library collection books.
